♥ zz

long day today, as it seemed. lucky had SP ACER duty only at 11:30am today! until 2 plus..
haha! today's route for the Parents' Forum was the shortest!! School of CLS! (: HAHA! just had to talk for 2 trips and that's all! totally different from the SP Experience in June! or is it Open House in Jan.. Zzz.. anw, i guess this was one of the most enthu group i've been with! mainly bcos we've gotta wait for the parents come out from the tours at T1A, so the buses just parked at a carpark and the 6 of us (2 tour guides for each bus) juz hang ard and chit chat.. cant really rmb what we talked about but the ice was really broken when one of the tour guide actually asked the bus uncle to take photo of us! hahaha, it's not that we're all zi lian or what, it's the part when she mention "uncle! one more photo, informal this time!" LOL, super cute and funny la.. and on the bus tour, we encountered weird and funny parents.. mine wasn't that bad cos 1 parent just asked if i was treating her for McDonalds for lunch (cos i was "promoting" the food courts in SP during the 1st shift).. my partner encountered weirder parent! cos of some stuff, this parent and child wanted to return to T1A (we sent parents to T11A on the second route) so partner was asking how parent find the tour earlier on.. then suddenly the parent asked him "wow, where did you fix your teeth?" YA! wth? totally diff wavelength plus he pronounced teeth as "tea/tee" zzz.. so partner tot it was tea, then he blur. i tot it was tee (t-shirt) lagi blur.. stunned sia.. den parent talk and talk.. zzz..
so CLS tour ended the earliest, bus uncles also super happy "WAH, so fast!?!" that kinda expression (: haha.. den we decided to be kiasu and take the SP bag cos got free notebooks and pens. zzz.. super hilarious, the scene then.. hahaha.. we were as kiasu as SINGAPOREANS! aiyo... if not for driving at 3pm, i would had hang ard ): such a waste..

den chiong to CDC for driving. was late and zzz.. driving till 4:30pm, den rush to edge at yishun.. zzz.. seems very short, but lotsa drama inside. will update soon!

ahh, i just found out that the media fast is actually 1 month long! not 1 week!! =/ great! after all i've seldom played FB since school started (: hallelujah!

♥ Care and Share 2009

reason for MIA-ing for "too" long.

Church Feeds 5,000

Victory Family Centre organises grand banquet for over 5,300 elderly poor

Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 Posted: 4:30:36AM HKT

A panoramic view of the 5,300+ participants, mostly elderly poor, at Saturday's Care and Share event at The Float@Marina Bay organised by Hope Community Services Centre, the social arm of Victory Family Centre. (Photo: CP)
The connection with the miracle in the Gospels was unmistakable.

But for the more than 5,300 elderly poor invited from across the island to the special Saturday event, it was a field day.

Not only were they treated to a restaurant-style grand banquet which occupied the whole of The Float@Marina Bay with 500 tables, they experienced a rare panorama of performances covering the spectrum of age groups, cultures and races, and genres.

There was a kindergarten dance, drama, mass exercise, primary school Chinese orchestra performance, celebrity performances by Tammy Chow, Murali Krishnan, Mahani Mohammed and the elderly Chen Mei Guang who had to be helped on stage and supported by a chair as she sang two songs in dialect, professional juggling and magic acts and more.

The event itself was co-hosted by former MediaCorp actress Lina Ng.

Participants had their fun too. A group of elderly fans of the 76 year-old Chen appeared to be enjoying her high-pitched numbers immensely.

The large representation of elderly people became kings and queens that day, with an entourage of buses bringing them between their houses and the venue and back and 'captains' befriending and thousands of volunteers serving them.

Behind it all: Hope Community Services Centre, the social arm of Victory Family Centre, and over 2,000 volunteers from VFC who extended invitations to needy residents in their neighbourhood of at least 60 years of age.

Back in 1989, VFC members felt the need to honour the senior citizens of Singapore and give them the opportunity to ‘taste’ the love of God, and share with them the Gospel, according to the HCSC Executive Director Andrew Chay.

“Basically the Gospel is [revealed in] different ways. One of them is through acts of kindness and loving [people] to Christ,” said Chay, 49, a VFC pastor in charge of two buildings where the 5,000-member congregation meets.

HCSC, which has been conducting similar Care and Share events for a thousand elderly poor each time, decided to mark its 20th anniversary with a bang.

“[Care and Share is meant as] a service to elderly people because we felt they didn’t have many more years left for them,” expressed the youthful Pastor Chay. “The Lord just led us to do this to touch the elderly with the love of God.”

At the end, a white gold diamond necklace was given out in a lucky draw. Organisers distributed 4,500 goodie bags and ‘ang pows’ or red packets with $10 enclosed each to 4,216 participants.

Known for its impressive missionary achievement, VFC has 5,000 members including children.

ha! 2 days only! but i really didn't have time to go online for the past 5 days.. haiz, forced to come today cos of some stuffs. if not i'll be in bed zzz le.. anw, will update prolly on thurs! (:

and today's Word of the Day is really apt..
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past...I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more."

Isaiah 43:18, 43:25 (NIV)
i really had this feeling today, about dwelling in the past and etc. even told huishan about it in the evening, the "what ifs" and "if only" questions just came out. thank God i came online afterall! (:

♥ first day of sch

ahh first day of school!! found out that we are supposed to report in sch at 9am every morning to 6pm!! omg, can die.. anyway, always thot tat this semester would be the easiest, is until going thru the process sia, den i realised it's darn sian and tough.. basically, the DME and DMA Teaching Factory students do their project together. but mechatronics can choose b/w W11 or at ARICC (robotics) hmm.. no sch term break this semester): and the security is quite tight. basically we gotta scan our hand to gain entrance, and to mark attendance. woah, and i alw encounter problems!! zzz...
--
2nd day:
supervisor is back! tot that by not joining the Electrical department, i will be free from doing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). what are the odds that we are the 1st batch to do PLC for the Programming Department! kinda sianz to study PLC again, mainly cos the lecturer 2 sem ago really made me lose interest, LOL. anw, we found out a nearer exit from our computer lab (which is super ulu) and got no internet! can die... haiz.. 9-6 again.. must bring sweets and snacks le...
--
3rd day:
Played around with Ladder Diagram, trying to decipher and recall past lectures. Was briefed the day b4 about zzz. LOL, supervisor was saying that last sem or smth, 1 student fell asleep and when another supervisor came and knock on the table and qns him, instead of saying "Sorry Sir!", he said "i'm tired..." guess what.. yes, i fell asleep and supervisor asked me "tired arh?" and stupid me nodded and agreed. WTS! lol..

♥ last week of holiday

argh, the internet speed is so laggy out of a sudden luh.. super irritating! really wanna blog about my last week of holidays! (: haha! but will post another time after i bluetooth my pics from my photo which is starting to have reception problems :(
--
fri: finally bought some boxes from IKEA, to pack all my zapalang stuffs. net at night.

sat: went to FEP with huishan and huili, followed by edge at night.

sun: morning class and service, running at tamp stadium (awesome sia!), dinner at subway.

mon: zzz until 9 plus in the mornin to have breakfast, watch tv till 11 plus, back to zzz until 2 plus, meet olivia for Nihon Mura 'High Tea Buffet' which was super awesome and worth it!

tues: went to suntec for briefing, searched for darn polaroid films but cant find them (at peninsula), bot photo album (finally! (: )

wed: work from 8am to 6:30pm! JEC Composites Asia Event at Suntec Convention Centre! met lots of foreigners! cos i was helping out at the registration counter at level 1.
got Japanese (Konnichiwa! Arigato Gotzamatsu!), from University of Tokyo! omgwtfbbq!
Russian (hysgaabuf, dunno how to say sia, but was in awe of their language~!)
German, (counter friend made a mistake but i felt he handle the situation very well! (: )
China (xie xie, common, but it's cool to hear them speak english! ahah!)
Vietnamese,
Indonesian (asked my counter friend, "what's your name, MY SON")
Malaysian, Singaporeans, South Korean! i cant rmb if got N.Koreans leh..
basically it was a fun trip cos it's the most slack job ever~ (: not trying to say response not good, but it's more for the overseas ppl, cos it's an exhibition show in Asia, so definitely expect foreigners la.. some of them still quite humourous sia. cos i passed to him the hamper, then he asked "is these free?" and went on asking "is there any free notebooks?" LOL, like what sia.. it sounded more funny then, cos we were super sian due to lack of "traffic".. haiz..
dinner at ASTON with huishan, reached home at 8:45pm and bathed and watched tv till 10. slept at 10:10pm sharp! omg!
woke up twice to 1) toilet, bladder quite full at 1 plus. 2) was dreaming that i was on bus 34 with my net (all 9 of them!) with some ex-net / church peeps! den i had a bad flu, and used 1 whole packet of tissue to clean my mucus. eee still dreamt that it's that kind of green and yellow mucus (haha!) i woke up drenched with my saliva. yucks sia. and super sian cos cant sleep well. haiz.

today, thurs! met Cheryl and Denise at iluma for movie! Julie & Julia! (:
very nice movie, 2 hours straight! initially i got very mixed up, not with the names but with the timing. cos Julie, in 2002, was trying out the 524 recipes written by Julia, in 365 days. and so they were showing Julie and Julia's life concurrently mah. so in Julia's life, i was wondering why she doesn't act as if she's a famous woman or smth in Paris (cos she's an American). and she was busy using typewriter to type her recipes when Julie was using BLOG! ya! until the end of the movie, den i realised that they were playing a Biography of Julia (the actual chef and writer), and how it re-enacted in Julie's life.. sounds complicating, but the show is super good! (: worth my $8.50 at iluma! (:
den had steamboat.. (:

tmr: badminton in the morning... =/ and then driving in afternoon.. and net at night~ (:
--
P.S. did i mentioned that my timetable is out? and gotta be in school at 8am every morning (that means 7am to run =/) and i have a 3 hrs break on friday AGAIN! argh!

♥ driving

had driving on tues with a new instructor. the main reason for changing instructor was because first one was really expensive. zzz. yeah. found out a lot more ways to deal with my mistakes. smth which first one never mentioned. darn! and he cheated my circuit $$ ): he charged me $23 for each circuit, but this new instructor only charge me $22.50. oh man, he cheated my 10 circuits leh! $5!! i noe it sounds very little, but i can buy 1 happy meal to cheer myself up. or even 50 packets of Bee Bee biscuits, or 5 packets of Super Ring, zzz. and worse still, he always eat my 10min of driving = $4.30 (flat rate of $26/h) i went for 44 lessons (ahh, so many still can fail, KNS sia..), so imagine how much i lost.. haha, since i won't be saying who's the instructor, i can continue ranting on la. haha~
anw, i learnt more stuffs with the new instructor, and all those is the mistakes i made in TP. pang sai me.. haiz... gonna drive again next fri, b4 sch reopens! =)

♥ personality test

cool personality test.. http://www.quizbox.com/personality/test82.aspx

Your view on yourself:

Other people find you very interesting, but you are really hiding your true self. Your friends love you because you are a good listener. They'll probably still love you if you learn to be yourself with them.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.

The seriousness of your love:

You like to flirt and behave seductively. The opposite sex finds this very attractive, and that's why you'll always have admirers hanging off your arms. But how serious are you about choosing someone to be in a relationship with?

Your views on education

Education is less important than the real world out there, away from the classroom. Deep inside you want to start working, earning money and living on your own.

The right job for you:

You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.

How do you view success:

You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:

You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.

Who is your true self:

You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.
